Computer Workshops

Computers and Your Job Search

This workshop is designed for people with little or no computer experience. You will learn basic word processing (Microsoft Word) and get an introduction to the Internet.

 

The sessions cover:

  • turning on a computer
  • keyboarding
  • creating, saving, and opening basic Word documents
  • bold, italics, underline, fonts, font size
  • bullets
  • web browsing, searching, e-mail

Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 12:00, once every second month

 

There is an extra class Mondays prior to each workshop for true beginners. It covers:

  • turning on a computer
  • how to use the mouse
  • correcting mistakes
  • how to use the Service Canada job bank web site

Word

This workshop presents techniques for word-processing your resume using the Microsoft Word program.

 

Topics include tabs, indents, tables, and clip art. It is expected that participants are already comfortable with basic character formatting, text editing, and saving/opening documents.

 

Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 12:00, once every second month
