Job Creation Partnerships

What looks like a job, but isn't? A Job Creation Partnership. These are actually work experience opportunities arranged by a community organization and jointly funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and the sponsoring organization. They always have an end date, and there is usually no possibility of ongoing employment with the hosting organization. Time spent on a JCP is not EI insurable; that is, you are not accumulating working hours for an EI claim.

Job Creation Partnerships are beneficial for those who require on-the-job training or experience to meet their career goals. They may also provide you with a positive reference from a local employer.

JCP opportunities are advertised through the Job Shop and Opportunities Career Services. To participate in a JCP, you must have an Action Plan signed off by your Career Advisor that indicates a JCP would be a beneficial step in your job search. To work on an Action Plan, make an appointment with a Career Advisor at the Job Shop (334-3119) or Opportunities Career Services (897-3315).
