Privacy Policy

Creative Employment Access Society (CEAS) recognizes the importance of privacy as well as the sensitivity of personal information collected in the course of providing service to our clients. We take seriously the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of our clients' information that we collect, use or disclose in our service.

The Personal Information Protection Act regulates the way private sector organizations within British Columbia collect, use, keep, secure and disclose personal information. “Personal Information” means all information about an identifiable individual. This policy describes the way that CEAS manages personal information at its disposal.

Our Need for Personal Information

The services provided by CEAS are intended to assist our clients prepare for and find work. In order to be able to give advice and assistance to our clients, we need access to relevant personal information. We limit the personal information we collect by using standardized forms which have been carefully designed to collect only the information necessary to enable our staff to make reasoned and informed decisions.

The second reason we need to collect personal information is to meet a requirement of our funding. Please refer to the other side of this brochure for further details.

Security of Personal Information

We are obligated to protect all personal information we have gathered to carry out our service. We have made arrangements to secure against the unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or destruction of personal information.

Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

We work only with information provided directly by our clients. We do not seek additional information from outside sources. The information is collected by having clients complete forms themselves and during their needs assessment interview with a Career Advisor.

Career Advisors occasionally consult with each other to discuss specifics of a client’s Action Plan. In most cases though, only the client's Career Advisor and the Data Entry Specialist have access to a client’s file.

The personal information that CEAS collects is not made available to, or shared with, any outside individual, organization or level of government except for the following:

• We are bound by a legal agreement to provide specific information required for the administration of the EI program. This is done in accordance with the Privacy Act and Service Canada’s Security Policy and Procedures Manual.

• We may share a client’s personal information with other employment service organizations when the information is required for the client to receive service, or for other reasons which are in the client’s best interest. We will transfer the information only after the client has been informed of the reasons and has given their consent in writing by signing a Consent to Release Information form.
